What More Can I Say...That's Denzel!

Kanye West – No Church in the Wild Lyrics

[Hook: Frank Ocean]
Human beings in a mob
What's a mob to a king? What's a king to a God?
What's a God to a non-believer who don't believe in anything?

Will he make it out alive? Alright, alright, no church in the wild

Captivating! Epic! Deception! Greed! & Denzel's performance...Classic (goes without saying)!

"Safe House," starring Denzel and Ryan Reynolds was a phenomenal film.  I stepped into the theater thinking that it was going to be great and I wasn't disappointed.  Anything that DW touches, you can bet that he is going to give it 110% and that is exactly what he did.  Ryan Reynolds wasn’t sure how he was going to approach the role but, his on-screen presence held up.  He did a good job.  I was excited about seeing the film and without a doubt, I highly recommend…put this on your list.

Opening day: Feb10th

My rating: 4.5 stars!

Lessons from the "ReGeneration" Documentary for All Generations

Today, my husband and I saw "ReGeneration," a documentary  in view for two weeks at selected movie theaters. ReGeneration documents the story of a few DJs who are tasked with creating "real music" by using real instruments to create their beats. DJs not only have to use real instruments but they also work with other artists (typically older) and they work with music they haven't worked with before.

The story I felt a connected to was that of DJ premier. He researched classical music and created music that even the best classical performers admired. I could concentrated on the actual music for this review but what struck me was actually not the music but the relationships between the DJs and all of the co-creators.

During the two-hour journey of the documentary, it became apparent that it's very difficult to collaborate with others whom are generations apart from you. This movie is one that everyone in different generations should see. It's a lesson for the young and the older folks. As young people we think we know it all but at the same time those older folks sometimes can't see inspiration beyond themselves or beyond what they think is good.

I'm giving this review 3 out of 5 stars because music is so subjective and so it's very difficult to create music that would appeal to most. This is very well done, however, I still think it could have had a bit more depth.

Beep, Beep Julia Louis-Dreyfus in the VEEP Seat!

Veep, starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus, premiering Saturday, April 22 on HBO is going to take you by storm!  My wife and I attended the advanced screening of the new show at Regal Theaters, 42nd Street, NYC and I must say, not knowing too much about the premise, I was shocked.  Let me tell you this, by far, one of the funniest shows I’ve seen all year compared to Impractical Jokers.

So, Julia, she is playing the role of a VP and her staff members, amazingly cast, played their roles perfectly.  Without giving away too much of the story, let me point out her assistant, Gary, this guy was incredibly funny as were the other members of her staff.

Veep, lots of twists and turns, funny scenarios, great one-liners, shot perfectly with good camera angles, overall, one hilarious show that I am excited about watching.  I highly approved, highly recommend this show and I encourage you to watch when it hits the airwaves.

I give this show 4 ½ stars!

VEEP a New Reason to Get HBO

You've probably seen a million and one posters on the subway advertising the show VEEP. Initially, I thought it was going to be a serious show on politics but it turns out that it was about what's funny about politics. It is nice surprise to see Julia Louis Dreyfus in the role of vice president of the United States in the show. They picked the right person for the show not only because she looks the part but she's funny without being to over the top. Even if you don't like politics, you'll like the show because it is well-written and gives you some sort of insight as to what happens in the White House. It may be real or serious but I'm sure it is based on real life. This is the funniest show I've seen in a long time and truly deserves a 4 star rating. If you don't have HBO, VEEP is your new reason to get it.
